J. Monique Naturals

Standard

I’ve found yet another small Black owned business, J. MoniqueNaturals. I’ve had the chance of participating in her Black Friday sale.  50% off of everything on her site.  I took advantage of it by buying the three deep conditioner pack, out of one of those deep conditioners I tried the Raw Honey Deep Conditioner. While this deep conditioner doesn’t have much slip.  It packs some great moisture for those dry tresses.  I don’t need my deep conditioner to have a lot of slip.  Just as long as it provides moisture, because I de-tangle before I add any cleansers to my hair.

I give this deep conditioner:  4/5

5 stars:  excellent-would definitely repurchase
4 stars:  good stuff– would still repurchase
3 stars:  just okay-would repurchase if there was an AWESOME sale
2 stars:  eh– wouldn’t look for a sale or bother to repurchase
1 star:    hell no-wouldn’t even take it if it was free, and I love free

The consistency is thick, when you turn it over it doesn’t come out at all.
Smell
Has a light lemon honey scent.  Definitely not overpowering
Slip

Gitusum

Standard

During Black Friday I always like to see what new companies I can try, and I always stock up on my favorites.  Sometimes what I buy can be a hit or miss.  And of course I’m always disappointed when I have a “miss,” especially when I had a lot of hopes for the product.  Well I was disappointed with this hair masque I purchased from a small Black owned business company called Gitusum.  It has some great ingredients but, but didn’t provide me with much moisture and very little slip.  I also wasn’t too crazy about the scent.  It has a very Earthy clay scent, which makes sense because the product does have clay.  I was just expecting something a bit more pleasant.  However, just because it didn’t work for my hair doesn’t mean it won’t work for yours.

I give this deep conditioner:  2/5

Afrotastic Curl Elastic

Standard

Soultanicals has been around for a while, since 2012 to be exact.  I would say around 2016 or the early part of 2017.  I discovered a deep conditioner called Afrotastic Curl Elastic. And I have to say its not bad.  Its not as good as my beloved Kinky Kashmere but its definitely a great product.  It has some protein in it and has great ingredients.

One thing I LOVE about this brand is that they offer salon sizes on their products.  32 ounces!!  The usual cost of this item is $16 for 8 ounces.  In my opinion I think its an insult to naturals for companies to make a deep conditioner that’s less then 12 ounces.  An 8 ounce deep conditioner would last me about a month, maybe two if I’m lucky.

As a Soultanicals buyer.  I highly suggest you follower her Instagram page:  Soultanicals, sign up for her newsletter, and wait for her to have her sales because she has some awesome sales.  Just to give you an example, in Nov 2017, for her 5 year anniversary.  The owner had a five minute, $5 sale on many items on her site. Another example, of a great sale is during Black Friday, when she has her salon size products for $20.  Can’t beat that!
